Mojacar
A myriad of cobbled streets, tiny bougainvillea filled alleyways and traditional Andalucian squares are all begging to be explored and add to the enchantment of this charismatic, Spanish pueblo.
Once a Moorish settlement, there is much evidence of its colourful past which can be seen through its architecture, food, fiestas and culture.
In its more recent history Mojacar Pueblo became home to many artists and musicians giving the village a somewhat bohemian vibe.
The views are simply breathtaking, it's like being on the top of the world and best of all for many is the climate! The driest area of mainland Europe, Mojacar enjoys its own micro-climate with an average of just 2cm of rain a year and boasting over 3,000 hours of sunshine! What's not to love!
Oh...and the sunsets are just spectacular!
Mojacar Pueblo offers a gastronomic adventure, there's a different restaurant tucked around every corner offering the delights of different Spanish regions as well as further afield from Italy to Cuba, Morocco to Argentina! And why not conclude the perfect evening with a glass of local wine in one of the many romantic, candlelit bars.
Mojacar Playa (the beach resort) is just a thirty minute walk down the hill or five minutes by car. The modern but tasteful strip has been meticulously planned by the Almerian council to avoid becoming built up like some Spanish resorts.
Mojacar Pueblo is amongst just a handful of towns and villages handpicked to earn a place as a member of The Most Beautiful Towns in Spain Association (Los Pueblos mas Bonitos de Espana), a real privilege and well deserved!
